No one in my neighborhood bothered to dress up, so I don't bother to hand out candy. Its a simple agreement.... for shame.

Just came back from handing out candy at my sister's house. We had approx. 40 kids. (In that sprinkling were a few "adults" with no costumes on at all)

Last night, while handing out candy, an adult male held out an open trick or treat bag for his little dog dressed in costume. I was taken aback and gave "the dog" a fistful of candy. I'm irritated with myself for encouraging the behavior. Stupid.

Next door's grandchildren (girl 5 or 6, little lad 2 or 3), came round in their costumes TONIGHT (November 1), because they must have been in their own 'hood last night.

I told them they looked very nice, which they did (witch and pumpkin).
There was then an awkward pause, some confusing eye contact between their Grandma and me, before they all walked away empty handed. I'd like to think those kids learned a lesson tonight. Some adults are mean.
