Arrow i would say half my friends have been raped or molested

... and until Ayn came out and said that, i thought i was the only one who felt that way. meaning.. that forced sex was a common thing. a way of society that no one talked about.

I'm close with all my friends, most of them are girls, and over time.. it has came out sooner or later... just about all of them have been raped or molested at some point in their lives.

I doubt anyone here will come out and say they were sexually abused... thats like asking if anyone here has herpes.. but ya..

GOY, Ayn, for being so open and honest and sharing your story

I would say that about more than half my female friends. And those who weren't raped or molested were definitely the victim of a 'near miss'.

1/2 sounds about right from the people I know ... I have two daughters and this is something that really bothers me.

I had 2 near misses....one a total stranger when I was a child tried groping me in a public pool, but I ran away. Another a guy I went to school with cornered me outside a bar and I ran away again.... this guy came back and said "I think you got the wrong idea" I said" I don't tink so my friend...."

oh well...as long as your daughters know that any touching that makes them feel awkward or uncomfortable is wrong and to stand up for themselves they won't be victims.

Women have to learn early to protect themselves.

I think I've had some near misses. I attribute my preservation to my big mouth and short temper. It's very difficult to take advantage of a child as she's cussing you out at the top of her lungs. But there was a certain amount of physical abuse that created that kind of anger and suspicion in me as a child, so there's that.

I would agree that about 1/2 of the girls I know have been sexually assaulted in one way or another, but in only a few of them was it really serious like molestation or rape. I think a lot of them were touched as young teenagers by older men, and it was a one time over the clothes thing that was really disrespectful and scummy but it doesn't haunt them or anything. Come to think of it, that happened to me and I totally forgot until just now. A guy groped my boob when I was 12 and I was alone on a street in Italy, so the fucker got away with it because I was out of my element, but I don't consider that sexual assault, he was just a perv who took advantage of an opportunity.

It could be less than half, but it could be more. That's a probably a good rough guess from my experience. It totally creeped me out as I got older and started to realize this. Something you might not have thought about is that if this has happened to around half of the women you know then a good amount of the men you know have been the ones who have done it. Try going to sleep now.

mhhhmm.

Part of people being assholes and damnit to fuck it doesn't make it right.

Noone deserves to be so violated, or abused.

I'd not wish that upon my worst enemy if I had one, nor on my attackers.

There, I said it.

I'd say that around half is the number, but it depends where you are and the people you know. I know a couple of girls around my age that have already been raped in their teenage years, I know people who have had consentual as well, but I may only know a few because people do keep it quiet, and people are too emotionally scarred by the experience and what came around that point in time that it's probably a lot more than half.

i don't agree with this. i've never even been close to violated in any way and i only know a handful of my friends who have been. half seems like way too large of a percentage to me.

I dont know about that.. from the amount of replies that are already on this thread of people that it has happened to or nearly happen'd to.. you are the only one who is fortunate enough to not have experienced it at all...
unfortunatly it looks like the numbers are about right.. the other thing we have to realize, is that rape/molestation is the most UN reported crime.. and if there is this many that have come out.. it is frightening to think of the real number
