I hadn't heard about the converter. The question of a takeover/merger came a the conference call after quarterly numbers, maybe six months ago (don't quote me-i am old). As far as the FCC goes, nothing really outrageous is happening on satellite right now, but the internet, that is different. The DoJ and congress have been rumbling about banning all online c.c. transactions from US accounts to the offshore gambling sites.

Pssst btw Jay Thomas mentioned that they don't have numbers for individual shows on Sirius, just number of subscribers

I'm going to guess that since it's new technology, there may not yet be a reliable way to calculate.

I heard Jay thomas say that. Unless I am going schizo, I remember a reporter questioning how they could evaluate the numbers of listeners to Howard and figure out their ROI, and they said there was a system they used. BTW, what is it like working for CafePress?

Speaking of which, is there even a neilsen-style system for regular radio? How do they figure listenership, especially since a lot of radio is only listened to in the car? Do those 15-minute turn-it-on-until-commercial-before-switching drives to work count once per show, per hour, or what? Mali, you seem to be the most informed one on this thread, have you read this anywhere?

Both XM and Sirius have been going through a ton of cash.

The FCC is looking at regulating Sat. radio like it does cable (they do control it because they control the bandwidth its transmitted on).

Curry doesn't have a Channel on Sirius..he has a 2 or 3 hour Show on Sirius 102: Sirius Stars (same channel Jay is on).

How many channels does Sirius have, by the way? If they have 5 million subscribers and their shows are all live how much of an audience can any one show have? Don't different Sirius shows compete with each other for listeners, or can you download old shows like you do with a podcast? In any case, I'm curious as to whether AC, PCH, or DnD have shows competing with other big Sirius shows. How many listeners can statellite actually boast for any one show if it goes up against another? How many people just get satellite to listen to the music channels? My Point: Are these podshows on Sirius actually as big of a deal as they claim to be?
