I haven't been participating here, but I figured that I could add that I've been off my butt since February.
I've only lost 11 lbs., but I'm down 2 notches on my belt and I have more definition than I've ever seen on my body before. My goals were (in order):

Changed my diet. I never ate breakfast, I don't like traditional breakfast foods, I ate a big lunch and usually a smallish dinner. Now I eat a big handfull of almonds and a fruit first thing, granola bar mid-morning, sandwich or salad with turkey for lunch, protein bar mid-afternoon and reasonable dinner at night. Was 218, now at 207. My lowest adult weight has been 186. (I'm 5' 11" if that matters.) Hurt my knee a few years back, stopped doing everything, which was mostly softball and bike riding. Now I'm doing "gym stuff". Never knew my way around a gym, but now I'm learning. And I'm glad I am. |

i was starting to get in a bit of a rut and hadn't been able to lose anything for the past few weeks (plus i've been busy finishing my master's thesis and haven't had a lot of time on my hands) but for the past week i've increased my cardio from about 30-40 minutes to 50-60 minutes and it's made a huge difference, apparently. i lost 3 lbs this week! hooray!

Since summer is coming up, I want to get in shape, so I torrented P90X. Don't know if any of you guys (and girls) have done it, but I was wondering if not following the diet they tell you to follow will make a big difference? I just want to do the workout routines with the resistance bands and weights plus cardio, and dont have the money for the protein bars/powder etc. any thoughts? By the way, I'm 17, 5'9, 170 lbs, kinda chubby, have almost no muscle definition what so ever :P

So did everyone get lazy over the summer and quit? I didn't!
I'm down to 161lbs as of Sunday, and I think I'm going to follow the conventional SS for the next 2 months, then add back the plyo a couple of weeks before fencing starts. Been doing mostly sets of 10-15 prior to this and mostly platoed but got some definition. Hopefully with sets of 5 I can actually get some strength. Just did power cleans for 95x5x3, squats 225x5 once and then failed twice after x3 ![]() Last edited by DWarrior; 07-01-2010 at 04:15 AM. |

Still hitting the gym at minimum 4 days a week. Not putting on as much visible mass as I would like, but definitely increasing my reps and weight limits, so that's good.
I don't do much cardio as it would go against what my goal is, so I stick to free weights/machines. I haven't done any squats/deadlifts yet, so I have no idea where I stand at that. Been sticking mostly to a leg press at the moment where I'm about 550x10 so I'm inclined to start doing them. |
