I'm also pondering Borderlands.
Just Cause 2 crashes my PC. I think since I put another card in the PCI-E slot near my graphics card, it's starting to overheat. This makes me sad in the belly.

Hmm, is there anything else I should be upgrading the drivers for? Other than my graphics card? I've had a quick look online and it looks like you can't really get processor drivers/firmware. I've got the latest ATI drivers and I've tried letting the card overclock slightly (it was mentioned on another forum).
Hmph. It's so fun too! |

Besides pushing the graphic card (and eventually trying forceware drivers), i guess the RAM and the processor help.
Apparently it doesnt work well on XP and it's mainly deisgned to run smoothly under W7 but i might be runnin' my mouth... It is incredibly fun.... I recently did a plot mission (after roaming Panau aimlessly for days) and i wiped out a whole aztec temple filled with soldiers with a giant machine gun, while chatting gleefully with an NPC. I love how you're supposed to be the good guy but you end up doin worse stuff than the actual baddies.

Yeah I've spent the last two days loading up the game, going after the nearest Colonel type chap, getting killed by him a couple of times and watching as the graphics card restarts. I even took one out who was on a roof, I did it by hiding behind all the AC extractors and taking out his guards, then cooking a grenade and landing it perfectly at his feet.
It might be something to do with me running it in a window, maybe the combination of the game and all the transparency and whatnot going on in the W7 desktop is too much for my GPU, but I have it on lowlow settings and the lowest res. It upsets me so. |

What card are you using currently? I've personally found that whenever I run anything in a window it gimps my fps. I do everything fullscreen now and alt+tab when necessary.
Also, as a potential performance boost if everything is at a low setting already, perhaps forcing the game to use DirectX 9 instead of DirectX 10. If you have a DX10 compliant card it should automatically load with DX10 which adds more details and shaders and the things that make me happy in the pants region. **Note that changing files can fuck your shit up so have it backed up.** On a side note, when is ATI gonna get off their ass and get a driver fix out so that Bad Company 2's multiplayer maps don't load super slow on the newer cards!? >:| |

Geometry Wars 2 is half price on XBLA this week - 400 moonbucks.
Only one of the greatest games ever made! |
