That was endearing, but the aboslute perfection is every single scene in ep 2.

if you get HL2, everyone, get it in the orange box with the episodes and Portal.

First, because of Portal. Is there anyone in the universe that hasnt played Portal? I envy you.

Second because the episodes are everything good about HL2, but with the cool characterd development busted up to eleven.

Really, you can be a hard ass cold hearted piece of shit but at the moment where you go through a magnificiently designed level while notcing that the single most appealing fictional character in gaming history follows every progress you make from the windows without ever letting her well designed eyes off of you... Well, let's say that the line between reality and fiction gets a little fuzzier.

I am and always have been a very unsympathetic person, that very rarely gets involved into fictional things. But i'll always remember my Half Life 2 experience as the most soul shaking thing i've ever experience in any fentertainment/art form besides music.

Beats all Bioware games, and every movie i've seen. I never cared that much for a bunch non-existent beings.

Really there's no reason fo anyone not to play this game, and show valve that we still worship the series. Do that now or me and mr standardman will keep yapping on this thread for days.

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 2, WHICH YOU SHOULD BUY ALREADY
The whole arc with Alyx and the Hunters was so well-handled. It established them as dangerous, smart enemies, created sympathy for Alyx and gave her a moment where she overcomes her fear and fights back. All this while being a helpful and believable AI partner. Amazing. She's the emotional core of Half-Life 2 and the episodes and gives a better performance than most actors you see on screen.

And she manages to be a realistic looking girl, too.

Which, in a shooter, where you play a mute physicians that's a s strong as the hulk and as agile as spiderman, is kinda refreshing. I love the shot of her face in her first appearance. I am always debated between my love for alyx and my love for glaDOS. Oh Valve, what a pathetic man you turned me into.

Also, geekity-geekity-geek-geek-geek episode three. Geek Geek Geekity Dog! Geek Geekity Portal two geek geekity yada yada geeek.

I know what you mean man. Most girls in gaming look like the fever dreams of a 12 year old who doesn't know how spines work so when you see a realistic looking girl, it's a pleasant surprise and you automatically feel more empathy for the character. Frankly, she's more attractive for it.

Someone made a graphics patch for Half-Life 2 and I tried it out. Some of the tweaks were ok but they did something unforgivable - they changed Alyx to this:

Made me just plain angry, I immediately uninstalled it.

She looks like a porn pin-up. the good point about HL2 characters (Alyx especially, but Eli Vance too) is that they look very realistic and human, instead of plastic dolls.

Dont be a sillygoose Ev. I see your avatar. That's a geek avatar. Stop hiding under a fake non-geek mask. We'rer friends here. C'mon you can hug me. C'mon, cry it out.

YESSSSSSS I downloaded the orange box this morning before I left for work. Only 20 bucks? UMmmmmmm OK. I played HL2 and Episode 1 for my PC but since I've had a Mac I've missed gaming so much. I can't wait to play these games and I cannot wait to play Counter Strike. It has been yeeeeaaarrrsssss.
