Spooky we all have a brain you can't excuse the ignorance of people especially in the internet age if people are two lazy to do the research that is their problem i am not hear to capitulate to morons, and people who are not intellectually curious all this is fear mongering just like the vaccine issue all it is playing to people's innate fear of the unknown. I am sick of science being demonized especially by religious folk who think god is the answer to everything.

I'd say I agree there. It was a bad choice when people first started to use the phrase "recreating the conditions shortly after the Big Bang", which IS what they're doing, but then "black holes" got thrown in there, and now it's a shit storm. I partially blame Dan Brown as well...

I'm not quite sure when the concept of journalistic integrity went out the window, but I can assure you that the interview KATG had with the Daily American was representative of state of journalism all the way up to the top papers in the US, maybe the free world. I messaged another journalist about the misspelling of a new species' genus name, which is easily found just with google, but because it was spelled that way on a press release from the organization that funded the science, he told me I was wrong. A species typo I can understand, but if it's not a new genus, wtf?!? And how the hell were other scientists ever going to see the story if the name is misspelled? New rules of Journalism: 1. It's sensational or it's not covered. 2. If it must be covered and it's not sensational, it's the reporters duty to make it sensational(never mind the facts). 3. Every headline must contain puns. 4. All stories must be covered with equal amounts of zealotry. Number two on my list of journalistic concerns is the integrity of science journals and the crap that gets put out either because of a race to publish, wanting to chase media driven science because of easy availability of funding, or a crooked peer review process bent on pushing an agenda(even when the agenda is correct and obvious). /end rant

But I note the LHC has fired a beam of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff at McNally's house, so I'm sure he could do with a donation. (not to change the subject - see how I did that?) |

Yeah cause obviously in this day in age we don't have books or podcasts or oh yeah this little known device called the internet to keep ourselves informed. I know what your thinking the internet i thought it was just for porn no in fact it is a wonderful resource for scientific lay mans like myself so no the classroom is not a more up to date source for info on technology and scientific breakthroughs.
