My little girl just died in my hands this morning. She fell after climbing up my window screen and hit her spine on the corner of my dresser. I think i'm a little in shock.. my other kitten has already started looking around for her, and i dont know what to do.

I just took in a six kitten litter from a stray on our complex who abandoned them (who happens to be the mother of one of MY kittens). They're three weeks old, and seem pretty healthy, except that I can't get them to regularly latch onto the feeding bottle. A few of them have, a few times, but I've had them for about 4 days, and I'm starting to get worried, because one of them is dropping weight quickly. I'm using KMR replacement formula, and feeding about every 4-5 hours, but I know they're not getting enough, and I HATE force-feeding them.
Does anyone know of a technique/trick to get them to latch? They suckle pretty hard on the occasions that they do, so I know it's not that they don't know how. I've warmed the liquid, tried holding them in differnet positions, etc etc. Would really appreciate suggestions, links, info, etc! I've looked it up but can't find anything as far as tricks go. Thanks! |

diffently feeding with a plastic eye dropper works. you can use baby formula. make sure their bellies are not getting swollen, if so help them pee. take a warm wet dish cloth and rub it lightly against their stomach. sometimes young kittens can't relieve themselves without help. i had to do all this stuff when i was 7 or 8 and had found strays.
