Almost 24 hours since the last post? Come on Film Club, we can't die now after a string of good films!

Hellbent, now you need to choose whose turn it is next to pick the film. It needs to be someone who has posted in this thread recently, and I think it shouldn't be someone who has already chosen. Not yet, anyway.

So far, these have been the picks:
Space Indaver: Surrogates
jacey.ATX: This Film Is Not Yet Rated
DudeEMETIB: Moon
hellbent: The Fall

And actually, from now on, maybe when you choose your film you also need to choose the next person to choose. That way, the next person will have a few days to choose a film, and will be ready to do so when it's time. What do you think, President Dave?

Banoobie, if you need a valid US postal address, that would be pretty easy to provide. Unless it needs to be the same address that corresponds with your credit card info. That makes it tough.

For my pick I decided to go with The Yes Men Fix the World. A humorous documentary about two guys who basically impersonate people and companies.

It's available on netflix for those of us in the US but the really nice thing is they chose to have free online distribution so anyone who wants to can torrent it(or download it through your web browser, for the less technically able) legally here The Yes Men Fix the World. I just have to say if you end up enjoying the movie, and are able to, please consider donating. This is a distribution model in its infancy and I really hope it takes off because who doesn't like free movies, right?

Awesome! I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while, I love how now 4/5 picks have been things I've been meaning to watch, and The Fall was a movie I already love. We rock at this! lol

I agree with this idea, it would not only help keep things running smoothly, but it would give the next film-chooser some time to think out their choice, instead of being put somewhat on the spot.

Since this is dave's baby I'll wait to hear from him but I like the idea of choosing the next person with the film as well.

I hear a second and a third. President Dave-- you have the power of veto. Otherwise, the motion passes.

i was wondering about the film selection itself. is anything not allowed? what if i had chosen a porn? or something meh? (what if i had chosen twilight *gasp*)

then it occured to me that whatever you picked, people arent forced to watch. after 2 days of crickets, eventually something else would be chosen.
then i wondered what kind of movie should i choose, battle royale is from 2000 and an awesome movie but as i mentioned, subs and not steaming (i checked). i sorta wanted to see zardoz but not really. should it be something youve never seen?

just finished watching 'this film is not yet rated', interesting documentary... i didnt feel there was a real ending to the film, except to reveal the self-interested parties involved. a ratings system is neccessary for the general public - i myself never really bother with it, but now that i have kids (aged 1 and 2.6) i will probably have to pay attention.
i also think that they way we consume movies has changed and is why i dont bother with ratings. streaming? dvd by mail? pirate it? whatevers. i liked it.

I wouldn't worry about your film selections hellbent, you like what you like be it porn or what have you. Your last pick was something that i probably would never have watched, but im glad i did. as far as picking something you persnally have or haven't seen, I'm actually debating on what to choose if i get picked. There are movies I want to see, but there are a few I have seen that i'd like everyone to share in. either way, film club is the cats pajamas.

Isnt the incentive of watching the movies (besides to watch the movie) to be able to pick the next movie. I know in the first couple of posts was that in order to be chosen you had to not chosen (until people are limited) and you needed to comment on the last movie. I do think this is a good idea to streamline the deadline but I think you should still have to watch and comment on the last movie.
